Diabetic Diet Recipes – Lime Cheese Cake

Here is one of my favorite diabetic diet recipes, Lime Cheese Cake. Try it out!

Ingredients:
Here are all the ingredients you need to make this diabetic diet recipe
- 1 egg
- 2 egg whites
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 2/3 cup EQUAL SPOONFUL or 16 packet Equal Sweetener
- 3 tablespoons stick butter or margarine, melted
- 2 tablespoons EQUAL SPOONFUL* or 3 packets Equal sweetener
- 3 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon grated lime peel
- 2 packages (8 ounce each) reduced-fat cream cheese, softened

Preparation Method:
1. Combine graham cracker crumbs, butter and 2 tablespoons Equal Spoonful in bottom of 8-inch cake pan; pat evenly onto bottom and 1/2 inch up side of pan. Bake in preheated 325 degree F oven for 8 minutes.
2. Beat cream cheese and 2/3 cup Equal Spoonful in medium bowl until fluffy. Beat in egg, egg whites, lime peel and juice until well blended. Pour cream cheese mixture into prepare crust.
3. Bake lime cheesecake in 325 degree F oven 30 - 35 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool on wire rack. Refrigerate at least 3 hours before serving.

Food exchanges per serving: 2 fat, 1 milk

Diabetic Diet Dessert

In the past, diabetic diet program were advise to avoid sweet and dessert contain avoid sugar. It is believed that eating sugar and dessert would rapidly increase blood glucose. Recent research has shown that sugar has the same effect on blood glucose levels as other carbohydrates, such as bread or potatoes. Now experts agree that diabetic diet program can eat dessert with sugar as long as you work them into your diabetic meal plan and count it carb.

Diabetic Diet Dessert Ingredient - Sweetener

Sweetener is the main ingredient in any diabetic dessert. Sweetener makes food taste sweet, and has very calories and do not raise blood glucose levels. The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of these low-calorie sweeteners. The American Diabetes Association accepts the FDA's conclusion that these sweeteners are safe and can be part of a healthy diet.

Saccharin (Sweet N Low, Sugar Twin)

Saccharin can be used in both hot and cold foods to make them sweeter. You may recall that some studies giving very large quantities of saccharine to rats raised concerns that saccharin could cause cancer, but many studies and years of use have shown saccharin to be safe in the quantities used by consumers.

Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal)

Aspartame is another low-calorie sweetener. Because high temperatures can decrease its sweetness, check the manufacturer's Web site or call their toll-free number for guidelines when using aspartame in recipes.

Sucralose (SPLENDA)


Sucralose is the newest low-calorie sweetener on the market. Sucralose is not affected by heat and retains its sweetness in hot beverages, baked goods, and processed foods. Splenda is the sweetener recommended in this page.

Acesulfame potassium (Sweet One, Swiss Sweet, Sunett)

another low-calorie sweetener on the market is acesulfame potassium, also called acesulfame-K. This sweetener is heat stable and can be used in baking and cooking.

If you like to cook, you know that sugar does more in hot foods, especially baked goods like cookies and cakes, than just add sweetness. It also affects the way the foods cook and the final texture. Substituting a low-calorie sweetener may affect the texture and taste. Some people use a combination of sugar and a low-calorie sweetener to reduce overall calories and sugar while still producing acceptable results.

Healthy Diabetic Diet Dessert Tips

Many sweets and desserts, in addition to having carbs, are also high in fat and calorie and do not provide the important vitamins and mineral found in healthy foods. Here are some healthy diabetic diet dessert tips to help you lose weight while enjoying your favorite diabetic diet dessert:

1. Choose lower-calorie, lower-fat versions of your favorite diabetic desserts
2. Use a low-calorie sweetener instead of sugar for your coffee or tea
3. When you are eating out, split desserts with a friend or family member

5. Fresh or unsweetened dried fruit serve as excellent diabetic dessert.

Diabetic Diet Recipes – Chocolate Chip Cookies

Here is one of my favorite diabetic diet recipes, Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Ingredients:
Here are all the ingredients you need to make this diabetic diet recipe
- 1 cup margarine, diet, (2 sticks) at room temperature
- 3 egg whites, large, at room temperature
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water, warm, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups unbleached flour, white
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup Brown SugarTwin

Preparation Method:
1. Preheat oven to 375ºF.
2. Cream margarine, sugar, and Brown SugarTwin at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add egg whites and vanilla to creamed mixture and beat at medium speed for 1 minute.
3. Stir together flour, soda, and salt to blend well. Add water to creamed mixture along with the flour mixture and mix at medium speed for 1 minute or until smooth.
4. Add chocolate chips to dough and mix lightly. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto cookie sheets that have been lined with aluminum foil or are nonstick. Press down lightly with fingers dipped in cold water to form a circle about 2 inches across. Bake about 12-15 minutes or until browned. (The cookies won't be crisp unless they are browned.)
